NUTRI-SERVE FOOD MANAGEMENT

 

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 

Another school year is upon us, and we at Nutri-Serve would like to thank you for having our program at you school this year.  Nutri-Serve is striving constantly to make our lunches even more nutritional than ever. Here are a few pieces of information about the program.

 

ORDERING

Students have a choice of four entrees each day. They are:

 

1. The today's special- the regular lunch

2. An alternate lunch

3. Cereal lunch

4. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich

 

**each lunch comes with all of the daily components to make

a balanced meal.

 

SERVICE

The Offer vs. Serve program is in place at the school. Students have the option to choose all five components of the lunch, or to take at least three. In this program, children are not required to take an item if they absolutely do not want that item.

 

To make this program fun and easy, we have incorporated a concept called BALLOONS FOR A BALANCED LUNCH. Each lunch component or food group is represented by a corresponding colored balloon. The colored balloons are stickers thatare placed on the line in front of the lunch component it represents. When a child has chosen a food from all the colors, he or she will know they have a balanced lunch.

 

The five components offered each day are:

 

1. Meat - red balloon

2 .Enriched bread, rice, or pasta - brown balloon

3. Fresh chilled fruit or juice - yellow balloon

4. Cold or hot vegetable - green balloon

5. Choice of milk - blue balloon

6. Bonus foods offered - orange balloon

 

SELECTION

Ala Carte items are available daily. Students will have an opportunity to purchase healthy snacks after they finish eating lunch.

 

PAYMENT

Please see attached letter for payment options. (this letter follows online) Pre-payment really helps the children move through the lunch line faster. All parents are encouraged to complete the pre-payment form and send it, along with your payment, in with your child. Please remember to specify how much money you would like in your child's meal and snack account. Remember, if it is not specified, the entire money goes into lunch, and your child is not able to purchase any snacks with this money. Once the money is labeled lunch, it is impossible to transfer the money. Lunch can come out of snack money, but snacks can NOT come out of lunch. This is a security measure so a parent who does not want a child to purchase snack, can control that. This way any money labeled lunch, is strictly for lunch.

*Please remember to label all pre-payments with Nutri-Serve and your child's full name on it.

 

Please feel free to send in your pre-payments on September 6th, 7th, or 8th. Our first serving day will be on September 11th. Sending the payments in the week before, will make the first day much easier for all!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 

            Nutri-Serve would like to inform you of our prepayment program. This

program is to allow you to put money into your child's lunch and snack accounts.

This payment option will speed up your child's service and enable you to monitor

his or her purchases. Prepayments are available in the following increments:

 

            5 days for $13.75    10 days for $27.50  20 days for $55.00

           

*please note the change in the price of lunch- $2.75 per lunch

 

            PREPAYMENT MONEY GOES TOWARD LUNCHES ONLY!

 

            Please fill out the attached stub and return it with the proper amount of

money in an envelope with your child's full name and room number on it. If you

send a check, please make the check out to Nutri-Serve Food Management.

Also, keep in mind that the number of prepaid meals you purchase are not

designated for a specific week. Your child's prepayment can be used for any

number of days during that year.

 

            Money On Account Option: This is an account for snack purchases.

This account is separate from the lunch account. If a child runs out of lunches,

and doesn't have a lunch, we will allow the child to charge lunch, and then

notify you. However, if a child doesn't have money on their snack account,

he or she can not charge snacks.

 

Money for lunch can come out of the snack account, but money for

snacks can NOT come out of lunch!
